 Food and Nutricion

 
 

The Food and Nutrition Department (DAN) develops activities in the areas of food safety and nutrition aiming to contribute to public health gains through the study of the situation of the country in the scope of food safety and nutrition.

The department works in the promotion of health, prevention of food borne diseases and improvement of the nutritional status of the Portuguese population, developing activities of research, surveillance, reference, providing a diversity of services, training, information and consultation.

To accomplish the tasks assigned to the National Institute of Health, the Food and Nutrition Department cooperates with similar institutions and with other national and international organisations namely WHO, FAO, EFSA, participating in national and international Programs and Projects. 

DAN is located in Lisbon and Oporto.
